What does it cost?

Electric boating offers many cost advantages compared to a boat with a fuel engine: electricity is cheaper than fuel; an electrical system requires hardly any maintenance, and in cities you often pay a much lower amount in inland harbor dues.

And more importantly: you save time with electric boating! You no longer have to make a detour to a petrol station; you spend much less time on maintenance and the greater reliability of electric motors reduces the chance that your sailing day will fall into the water.

Purchase

Electric drive systems are generally a bit more expensive to purchase than fuel systems, but this is offset by much lower operating costs and much higher reliability.

Running Cost

The running costs of an electric boat are lower than that of a fuel boat, mainly due to cheaper maintenance.

An electric inboard motor has fewer (moving) parts, which is reflected in lower maintenance costs. An electric motor has no engine oil, spark plugs, drive belts or air filter; they therefore do not need to be replaced.

Furthermore, the inland port dues of cities are often significantly lower for owners of an electric boat.

In addition, electric boating saves a considerable percentage on fuel costs. That saving increases the more you speed!

How long can I cruise?

With our electric inboard motors and the accompanying battery packs you can easily sail for 8 hours.

The same factors that influence the duration of a fuel boat apply to an electric boat: the conditions (wave, current, wind), hull design, loading and sailing style. If you sail against the wind and current with 10 guests, you will logically get less far than on a windless day alone through the city.

With a display you always keep an overview of your energy reserve and how long you can sail.

Cruising Area

Currents and waves have a major influence on your range. The battery pack in your boat is comfortably sized, but use common sense.

Boot Design

The size, draft, hull shape and displacement of your boat all affect how long you can sail.

Based on only a few data from your boat, we can calculate the required engine power and battery capacity quite accurately.

Weather Conditions

Weather, wind and temperature also influence your sailing day.

Load

Many guests mean a higher weight and a higher power consumption. The following applies: the larger your boat, the smaller this influence is.

Cruising Style

If you sail at a constant low speed, you consume significantly less power than at alternating and/or high speed.

How does it work?

Electric boating is much more reliable than fuel-powered boating. Never again will your day be ruined because your engine won't start. That's because an electric inboard engine is much simpler in design than a fuel engine. All you need is an electric motor with controller, a battery pack, and you're good to go!

Electric inboard motors

DAMOTO electric inboard motors are the best-selling electric motor and controller for nautical use since 2006. Thousands of boats, in both pleasure and commercial vessels, are already equipped with them. The motors have been specially developed for this and meet the highest requirements with regard to safety, moisture, water and corrosion resistance.

They are available as an All-in-One system or as an Installation kit. Always complete including accompanying cables.

Battery Packs

To power the electric inboard motor, DAMOTO offers the following battery types from renowned manufacturers:

  • Lead-Acid
Can be charged up to 750 times, needs to be placed upright and requires little maintenance. Battery box recommended.
  • AGM
Can be charged up to 750 times and requires no maintenance.
  • Lead-Acid Traction
Can be charged up to 1200 times, needs to be placed upright and needs regular maintenance. Including battery box.
  • Lead Carbon
Can be charged up to 1000 times and requires no maintenance.
  • Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo)
Can be charged up to 2000/3000 times and requires no maintenance. Light in weight but more expensive to purchase.

Based on the application and wishes the right choice can be made.

Charging

Electric boating is the future. The number of charging facilities is increasing rapidly and more and more marinas are offering electric charging.

Home

If your boat is at home, it is a matter of unrolling a power cable to your boat.

Port

Nowadays almost all ports have shore power, so here too, just roll out the cable and load.

Public charging facilities

Electric boating is on the retina of many water-rich municipalities. More and more charging facilities are being built where you can charge.

Installation

Step 1

Opt for electric sailing.

Step 2

Configur your system, we help you to perfectly match it to your boat and wishes.

Step 3

Have your system installed by one of our dealers or install it yourself. You can always contact us with questions.

Is it for me?

Electric boating is the way to spend a wonderful day on the water. With an electric boat you are one with your environment, and you can have a conversation without raising your voice.

Many cruising areas have speed restrictions, making slow cruising the norm. Especially then it is a fantastic experience to glide through the water almost silently, without noise and without smell.

Moreover, electric boating is emission-free, which will thank the local flora and fauna!
